The Cribstone Bridge sits proudly within Will’s Gut connecting Orr’s Island to Bailey Island in Harpswell, ME. Spanning 1,150 feet, weighing close to 10,000 tons, the open cribbing design is believed to be the only structure of its kind in the world.  The bridge is an engineering marvel anchored only by gravity consisting of twelve foot granite slabs latticed to permit tides to ebb and flow freely while withstanding the potentially crushing blow of ice chunks during the harsh Maine winters.

Built in the late 1920’s the bridge has long been an attraction for painters, photographers and historians harmonizing strength and beauty.  It was named to the Historic Register in 1975.
